COVID-19 Anxiety: 5 Resources to Help You Cope

The last few weeks have seen the world rapidly grow more
and more fearful, as a deadly virus has grappled humanity. Waves of
information have come our way, causing a surge in feelings of stress and
anxiety. I have found myself engulfed in overwhelming amounts of
stress, too, with feelings of uncertainty getting me down once in a
while. Dealing with the COVID-19 anxiety has certainly been tiring.

I know it can be unnerving and frightening and I decided that it was time to launch my blog, Thia’s Travel Tales, by addressing this feeling of uncertainty that we are all facing. While this first post of mine is not going to chronicle any of my travel experiences, it is important. It is going to focus on offering to you something that I offer through my travel services – mindfulness and serenity. 

Over the last few days, I have come across a number of beautifully-written articles that document some of the things you can do to cope with what’s happening around us. Here are a few of my favorite articles and resources that can help you cope with the insecurity and uncertainty.

In the last few days, I have found it a lot more difficult to focus
on my work and any other tasks at hand. I know that the world appears to
be in a strange state of turmoil and disorder, which can be a major
obstacle in the way of the tasks you have to complete. This Forbes
article by Karlyn Borysenko, an organizational psychologist experienced
in the integration of mindfulness techniques into work, offers
interesting insights into how you can use mindfulness to work better,
without getting sucked into a downward spiral of negative thinking.

I came across this lovely bundle of resources that was published by the United Nations. While it was directed towards UN personnel, specifically, I found that it’s applicable to most of us generally, too! With simple tips on how to keep yourself feeling alright mentally and a bunch of mindfulness related audio recordings at the bottom of the page, this is an invaluable source of peace in the chaos we are facing today.

One of the most incredible things that we can be grateful for today, is the availability of digital resources that can help us actively engage in the practices of mindfulness and meditation.

While a number of the apps listed in this article are not entirely free, they do have free versions that are also very helpful for you to use. Stress-management to help cope with COVID-19 anxiety has been made much easier than ever and this article sums up a number of great tools.

This resource is something we all can be immensely grateful for. The Coronavirus Sanity Guide by Ten Percent Happier has a number of free podcasts you can listen to. From addressing parenting during a global pandemic to discussions about how to work better, the TenPercent Podcast is a gift to mankind during this period of crisis. Find yourself a great podcast here to help you deal with COVID-19 anxiety!
